My practice explores issues of doubt, vulnerability, perceived ideals, and communication within the context of interpersonal relationships. This feminist lens-based work uses constructed narratives to describe the emotions and quiet moments of everyday life. Using portraiture, the models being close friends, family and myself, I deal with subject matter that parallels my life experiences. Currently I am working on Fold, which explores themes of transition, isolation, societal expectations, relationship shifts and self-worth within motherhood. In this series my research is focused on feminist perspectives (past and present) of mothering, fiction depicting the early-years of motherhood, personal experience, and one-on-one interviews.
